Lung Services

According to the American Lung Association, lung disease is the number-three killer in the United States, responsible for 400,000 deaths a year or one in six deaths. More than 35 million Americans have chronic lung diseases, such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (emphysema and chronic bronchitis), and pulmonary fibrosis. If cigarette smoking were banished, premature childbirth were prevented, workers’ safety were ensured, and clean air laws were not violated, most lung diseases would be prevented. Since we do not live in a perfect world and there are so many who must fight to breathe, Dr. Ostransky offers “a breath of fresh air” to those North Texans with respiratory complaints and lung disease. Dr. Ostransky carefully listens to each patient’s complaints and list of symptoms. Tailored testing and evaluation, and consideration of the patient’s unique medical history yield the information needed for final interpretations.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children…to leave the world a better place…to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Lung Services provided at North Texas Lung & Sleep Clinic include the outpatient evaluation for patients with both common and unusual lung conditions and evaluation of respiratory symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, and hemoptysis (coughing up blood). Both initial consultations and ongoing care are provided. Examples include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema, lung cancer, pulmonary nodules and lung masses, sarcoidosis, pulmonary hypertension, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, pleural effusion, recurrent pneumonias, occupational lung diseases, allergic and immunological lung diseases, tuberculosis, pre-operative clearance for surgery, chest wall abnormalities such as kyphoscoliosis, blood clots of the legs and lungs, and many others. In addition to a comprehensive interview and physical examination, diagnostic testing is tailored to the needs of the patient and their specific respiratory condition or problem.
